The great staff at PICD are delighted to see him and all his buddies in the Pines of Perinton Kids Care program.  We know how lucky we are to have  such a great staff.  Everyday, thanks to them, we support children with day care, Pre-k (where there isn’t a program), summer camp and computer learning (digital readiness.)

We also have teen and senior programs. Our mission, to provide onsite services at low income housing communities,  is rewarding for all of us.

We are proud to tell you at that we use $.94 of every dollar we receive for programs. Our private/nonprofit partnership model is efficient and powerful.

We look forward to telling you more about all the great ways our communities light up our lives.

On Monday, February 13, 2012, the board members of PICD were delighted to have Evelyn Cook speak with us about the Pre-K program that she oversees at the The Pines at Perinton in Fairport, New York. This is her third year running the program at The Pines, and has made this program a huge success.

Fairport CSD is one of the only school district in the area that doesn’t provide a universal Pre-K program, because of this children whose parents can not afford to send them to private programs are behind socially and academically when entering into Kindergarten. Thanks to PICD and Evelyn’s Pre-K program, underprivileged children in the area now have the opportunity to learn these fundamental skills to better prepare them for the future.  Teachers in the Fairport district have already noticed an improvement from children who have participated in the Pre-K program.

The Pre-K program at The Pines is offered at no charge to the parents, and is supported by PICD and donations from the community. Although this program certainly has taken off within the last three years, donations are needed to enhance the program. Currently, because of funding, the program can only be offered three days a week instead of five which is desired. Also additional supplies are needed to support and enhance the program at the Pines. Please consider donating to this great cause and help support our children’s future.

Once again our friends from Alabama returned and ran their 21^st Annual Day Camp.  It was a huge success with over 150 kids attending each day.  We rocked out to great music, played games, and got our annual visit from CP the clown.  Most of all, our youth received a lot of Alabama love.

Their annual hotdog dinner attracted over 250 families, so much fun!
